Advertising and Propaganda

Respond to one of the following prompts. You have two options:
Option 1: Choose a corporation and analyze the advertising the corporation uses to promote itself.
Where does the corporation advertise itself? In newspapers? On posters? On television? On the internet?
On cereal boxes? Etc. What type of word choice or visual imagery does the corporation use? Can you tell who the intended audience and consumer is?
Does the corporation have a mascot? If so, you have the option of spending the whole essay focusing on the analysis of this mascot. (examples: Ronald McDonald, Mickey Mouse, Joe Camel…etc.)
OR
Option 2: Choose some media outlet (a website, a particular television show, or a TV network, etc.) and tell us what effect this media outlet has had/ is having on our society.
Are you focusing on a radio or television show with a prominent personality? (Howard Stern, Rush
Limbaugh, Bill Maher, John Oliver, Trevor Noah, Laura Ingraham, Tucker Carlson…) or are you focusing on a website or network? (Fox News, Facebook, Google, CNN…) What effect is this media outlet having on
American culture and/or on American democracy? Positive effect? Negative effect? No effect? Why?
