Develop an idea that responds creatively to a named crisis or a number of crises. The idea can be for a business, a social enterprise, a non-governmental organisation NGO), or just a great idea that goes some way towards making the world a better place. It can also be an innovative idea that helps an existing company, or enterprise, address a specific crisis or number of crises. The idea must be developed around five principles which correspond to the FFC approach which underpins this course:
Fire 1: Empathy (Listen) - How can empathy be used to design the idea?
Fire 2: Kinship (Connect) - How can the idea be used to connect people with the crisis/crises that the idea is trying to address?
Fire 3: Earth (Contextualise) - How can the idea be contextualised in the realities of a finite planet?
Fire 4: Tools (Design) - What tools are needed for the idea to succeed?
Fire 5: Hope (Manifest) - How can hope bring the idea to life?
Success in this exercise can only be achieved through creativity, analysis and, perhaps most importantly, a thorough and robust understanding of the complex interconnections between environmental, economic, political and societal crises.
