Final Project
• , conducted in a “real world” environment.
• Must have a data sample greater than 100 items.
• Must utilize statistical concepts from at least two of the course modules.
• Can be a subset of an ongoing employment statistical study.
• Must utilize Microsoft Excel in completing the data analysis.
Your study should be non-trivial in nature; it should require substance, not “fluff.”
Getting Started
First assess your interests, current employment work assignment opportunities, and your understanding of the statistical concepts learned in this course to determine the project you will propose.
Project Topic
Your topic should explore a claim expressed by previous research, stated as fact in a current publication, or presumed by the management or supervisory personnel in your current work location.
Final Project Report
Effective communication skills play a significant role in the level of acceptance of the results reported in a statistical study. To this end, your course grade is weighted heavily on the substance and quality of your written report.
the report should include:
- An Introduction: background: What was your motivation in choosing this project?
- Statement of the claim
- Results and Discussion: Show and explain your data and observations, and then interpret them.
- Conclusions: Summarize the conclusions you reached by performing the study, and their significance.
- References: If applicable
- Acknowledgements: Collaborators or others that helped with your study. For example, you may wish to thank your supervisor or the management of your firm if you have based your study on a work issue.
