Prepare a position paper that clearly presents and explains an ethical issue or dilemma, either one you
have encountered personally or one that caught your interest in class. A list of topics covered in the text is
available.
Analyze the issue or dilemma by objectively presenting different views on it. Ultimately, the paper should
explain what the issue has taught you about yourself, about ethics, and/or why you view the issue as you
do.
Begin with an introduction (about one page) illustrating and/or explaining the issue, at the end of which you
state your thesis (position on the issue).
Discuss objections to your position on the issue. For a paper of this length (10 pages) it’s good to have two
or three.
Respond to the objections with your thoughts on the issue and demonstrate your position.
Finish your paper with a summary conclusion of the points made in the paper. The conclusion is a
paragraph, two at most, that should leave the reader satisfied that all the objections were addressed and
the issue was adequately analyzed.
