Choose a movie with a main character exhibiting symptoms of a psychological disorder. Identify what type of treatment you would recommend for the character, as well as your judgment and reasoning regarding their prognosis.
Background information Introduce the character of choice. Briefly describe the character, setting and plot of the movie.
Social History What is the backstory that is relevant to symptoms?
III. Conceptualization and Treatment
What are the specific symptoms of the condition exhibited in the movie that would lead the practitioner (i.e. you) towards a diagnosis, and what treatment options does the practitioner (i.e. you) suggest? Provide a DSM-V diagnosis, giving specific examples from the movie to justify your diagnosis. Comment on how the disorder(s) would be conceptualized differently by different theoretical models and in at least one different cultural context.
Discussion and Implications Discuss what is known about the diagnostic symptoms, their prevalence, and the likelihood that the character would benefit from the treatment that you suggest. Identify and/or speculate on biopsychosocial factors that may have contributed to the etiology of the disorder.
What will happen if the character does not agree to go into treatment, and what will happen to those around the character?
