A. Current Event Analysis

According to many analysts, the United States is currently struggling with a substance abuse crisis, specifically a problem with opioid addiction. This assignment involves a 4-page paper where you more deeply explore a current topic on substance abuse, treatment, recovery, or governmental response to addiction. This assignment is due (on bcourses) June 25 by midnight. Late papers are penalized 2 points for each day past the assigned due date unless I have received a DSP accommodation letter relating to late assignments. To help you write the paper, examples of relevant news stories and a rubric will be provided. You are also free to choose your own current event, with prior approval from the instructor.
