Remember: Refer to the writer by his or her last name, or “the writer.” Enclose the title of the essay in quotation marks. Capitalize initial letters of title words except prepositions and articles. Refer to the work as “the essay.” Use present tense for analysis; use past tense for your response. Indent at the beginning of paragraphs, including the first. Don’t leave extra space between paragraphs.
